Do you actually care and think about the Aboriginal?

Dear The Government of Australia,

The person whom I am who writing this letter is just a normal reluctant Australian who lived in Sydney. I am writing you this letter because I feel that what we are doing is wrong for the Aboriginal Australian. First of all, from the very first beginning, we brought our army to their land without any permission or anything! They were terrify and screaming because they have never seen anything white like us. But after they were nice and welcome us like a family. The relationship between them and us was quite good and friendly. We felt strange too that they are so different from us but our kindness and theirs make us bond together. After a while, we brought our own crops and animal into their land, we just brought it like it was our own land to grow. Some of the animals such as rabbit were not in the food cycle in this land. They keep eating the crop of the people and gaining more and more population that we even have to defend the animal that we brought. We treated the land like it was nobody’s but us. There were not law that said we could not enter and steal their territory. But please think back, if we were in that situation, would you feel happy and pleased if strangers, who have a totally different culture than us, come suddenly to our land and claim that it was theirs? How would you feel, gentleman? May be from our perspective, it was not right. That is the land we have been living for hundreds of year, even though there weren’t laws but still it’s ours. Do you feel it? That’s what the Aboriginal feel like when we claim the land. I also understand that the two group’s culture is very different but the soldiers could not go around shooting people like they were animals and nothing? You could not judge the culture if you do not know the culture really well and also it’s only from our perspective. The most ferocious and barbarous thing that we did to them is stealing their children away from their moms to be train like a British. Could you just imagine, you are an innocent Aboriginal woman who just working in farm and living happily. Suddenly one day, a white man come in and do things to you that you do not want. And you are now carrying a child with a person you do not even know well. But you feel like that is your child, and you love them just like a mom would feel and do. The child is half-caste. Our reluctant Australian think that because they are half caste, and from generations to one another, the Aboriginal will be extinct one day! Day by day, the children and mom have to hide their children from getting caught by the white men. When they take the children away, the mom could not do anything but crying and hitting yourself with a rock. You feel desperate, sadness all over but yourself; a normal Aboriginal could not do anything! How could your self-alone against Mr.Neville? Everyday, you just keep praying and crying, craving for your children to get back to you! And the children? You force them to do what they do not want to do! They do things and live where they do not belongs! Then only the brave ones would have courage and run away! They walk everyday, using courage of seeing their mom could fight back their challenges. We think we are superior? The children’s are superior! If you were in that situation, I do not think that we could do the same thing and run away! May be after, they could become like a white people and act like them! But deep down inside, they always carry this scar in their heart of the devils take them away from their home and force to live in sick places like hell!

Please consider what is the real caring and how really we are superior!

Rabbit Proof Fence Blog.

Through the movie that we are watching in class: Rabbit Proof-Fence. The protagonist who is Molly who is a girl that been taken away from her mom because she’s half-caste and is training to become a full British. I think Molly is valiant, brave girl and she is the hero. Molly is a hero because she is trying to save her sister and herself to go back to where she belongs, her home in Australia. From the first time when she was being taken away, she missed her mom and shouted out her name but she didn’t cry like her sisters. When they being put in the cage, the white men stare at them, her sisters were being scared and hugging each other, but the brave girl just stare at him back. When they arrive at the nun’s house, Molly was being a brave oldest sister for her sisters to lye on. She takes her sisters’ hands and being supportive. Not only brave but Molly is a girl that really love her country and desperate to go back to her mom. She forced and encouraged her sisters to run away from the nun’s house. She said very straight that this place is full of bad people and it makes her sick, so she is going back home. If Molly weren’t brave like her sister she wouldn’t try to go back home. She was not scared of being caught and be punished by the nun and Mr. Neville. When she’s see the thunderstorm is coming, the intelligence girl immediately thinks that the rain will cover her track mark and her scent. Molly is the leader of the group. She is the one who’s making plan for her sister to follow. Molly told her sister to pull out her bag to stuck it in the tree so that the tracker will think that they have been go forward but actually they are going backward. We haven’t watched the full movie yet but if she using this intelligent that she has, the three sisters will be success and come back home with their mom.

Learning Profile

I learn best when I learn by visually focus on listening (auditory), and I could analyzing the details of information. I also learn best when I learn from the whole perspective, emotions and movement. I must hear and usually I had a good memory for the details, spelling and math.
I need to improve on my hand writing. When I focus on writing, my hand writing is quite nice but when I'm in hurry my writing could get really bad. My biggest challenge is linear, processing to the exclusion of the gestalt. When I'm under stress, my visual, communication and movement is limited, so I will try to control that. Sometimes, I need to close eyes and turn right ear, so I will have to improve for more eye-contact and try to not depend too much on close my eyes.
The strategies that would help me in my learning is step-by-step instruction, positive, enjoyable experiences will help my creative learning and to fully access imagination. Doodle and manipulate clay while learning. Lazy 8's, blinking while tracking and writing drawing with my non dominant hand (right hand). Dancing, soccer and martial arts like Tai Chi. An integrative balance of art, music, free form movement and interpersonal, interpersonal skills combined with cognitive hard-trying will be highly beneficial.
I would like my teacher to know this about me, I prefers structured learning and organized and orderly sequencing of information. For example, for homework, I would I to know the specific details of the homework, which pages I need to read, what do I have to do. I have the ability to follow step-by-step direction by listen. Sometimes, I may need to close eyes and turn my right ear toward the information source with new learning. I have a dominant left hand, which connected to the kinesthetic gestalt hemisphere, I may need to move, touch my pen or something in order to organize and express information. I usually play with my pen while I'm thinking deeply. I will benefit from sitting in the front of the room on the left hand side.

Brunelleschi's Dome

The one that I believe most prompted Brunelleschi to succeed in the constructions of his masterpiece is courage. I choose courage because I think that if Brunelleschi doesn’t have courage he could not finish his masterpiece. Before Brunelleschi could come to the Medici family, he had courage to present his “ridiculous” ideas in front of all the architecture. He didn’t fear that they’re going to laugh at him or kick him out of the place. They did kick him out but he had the ability that other did not have, he had courage to bring him up to be a designer. After he joins the Medici, Brunelleschi always have a great skills and interest in art. That helps him with his masterpiece by brilliant architect. But what if he doesn’t have courage? Could Brunelleschi present his idea by facing danger that the dome will fall in the middle of the construction? I think the answer is no. in 1433 when Cosimo had to be in treason and the Albizzi took Brunelleschi with them, the construction stopped for a while. Brunelleschi could think that I stuck in treason, there’s no way that I could finish the dome and may be the Medici could be kill and I will die too. But he didn’t think that and still continue with his masterpiece. Courage helped him think that!

The dome that Brunelleschi made has a big affect in the world. People came and see his masterpiece and say wow, how could he do that! Some other architect would think that they have to think about another masterpiece that people never known of. From that they started to design more and more architect and have more new, interesting ideas. Which is a point of the Renaissance, the rebirth of the world. And when they have new idea, people from other place will come and see, and they continue to start wondering and “what if” and the world will have more new ideas!

Where do new ideas come from?

I think new ideas come from different situation and imagination. Our imagination could create plenty new ideas. We could come up with new ideas depend on someone's else ideas and make it more interesting and useful. For example, Thomas Edison used the idea of the first telephone's creator from Alexandra Graham Bell. Thomas Edison improved the ideas of Bell to make the sound of the telephone clearer and the network works better! New ideas also could come from moments of experience. To write a book or novel, you could use your experience to apply to your story. The main character could be you or someone that you know or really close that had a lot interesting experience. Guessing could make you come up with new ideas. Human guessing that the world is not round but it's a square. Then Galileo guessed that it's not square and that helped him come up with news ideas to find out which shape the world has. Just by a guess, Galileo changed the world's of science and the world of discovery in human world! New ideas could come from everywhere you're standing.

Favourite Short Story From Our Unit

In this short story unit, I like all three of the short story that we have discussed. But for my favorite, I would choose "The Sniper". I love the way the author, O'Flaherty describe the theme through the end with the sniper killed his own brother. It shows how Civil War splits up family, brother against brother. Although, I do not like guns and violence but the story was really touched. The conflict between the two snipers was really tensional. Before I read the story, I had no interested in Civil War but after read "The Sniper" I got more curious. I was impressed of the sniper's plan to help him sneak out of the roof and kill the other sniper.

Frim Trip Reflection:D

My 7B class went to FRIM trip last Wednesday and Thursday. We went there because our teachers wanted us to study outside of class and not only sitting in class, take notes and doing homework. We stayed 2 days 1 night in the forest. They wanted us to live in a natural environment for a while. Also, we study how forest look like and how long it have been created in Malaysia. Our teachers taught us how to find insects, writing in the rainforest, measure heights of the tree without climb up in a tree. We just bring our class in to the nature!

On the first day in FRIM, Ms.Lemos (my math teacher) gave us a packet. In the packet, they typed all our schedule and what we are going to do in the next day and today. Mr.Walsh divided our 7B class to four group (1-4) depended on our tent mates. I was in-group 2. When each student have a group then each group will go to their teacher that teach and lead the activities we will do. My group was with Mr.Walsh first. We studied about insects and forest. We got a chance to find insects under the woods, tree and how they do, do they have any special plants. In the end of the class, our group found a giant group of ants carry food to their nest. It was really interesting, it looks like there was thousand of ants helping each other to carry food that ten times bigger than them.

The next activity that our group had done is math with Ms.Lemos. She taught us how to measure tree without need to climb up to the top of the tree and then measure them. We used a math method in 8th grade to measure it. It was fun to use the math we never use in the forest!

After, we had lunch with the 7A class- the group that go first on Tuesday and Wednesday. I ate lunch my friends and ask them how was FRIM trip, what was they doing and stuff. They gave me advice when I doing the night walk, the bathroom and stuff.

The 3rd activity that my group enjoyed was writing, humanities with Mr.Peters. We had to separate from our friends to find a space that we can be alone. When I found a space that I liked, I sat down and felt the feeling that being alone in the rainforest. I sketched the space that I chose then wrote my feeling in the paper. During, I was writing, many bugs climbed up me make me shouted a small scream (no one could hear it). Beside the hot in Kuala Lumpur, in the rainforest the weather is perfect. It was sunny sometimes, but suddenly cool winds came and erase all the heat. After, I have done my writing; I ran over to my friends and chatted with them until Mr.Peters called us out.

The last activities in the morning my group done was with Mrs.Smith (our PE teacher). We went down to the stream down the rainforest to catch insects, fish, crab, and shrimps. All of us hurry to catch fish; they were so fast that we fall down in the water so many times. My group worked together perfectly, we always scream “FISHHHH CATCH IT! HURRY!”. We all wet after all but we had so much fun and laugh during it! Also, we catch a pretty good fish. We also play a game that we have to answer the questions, which group win will have a special price. My group won and the special price was candy from California! It was my favorite game ever!

At night, we had a night walk to see the animal and insects that was hiding in the morning, I was lost for a moment but lucky me I had Ameera- my friend, teacher and the Malaysian guide. I got wet because it rain during the walk. The rainforest was really pretty covered with tiny fireflies fly around a tiny light enough makes the rainforest light a little.

The next day, we went to the Canopy walk. It was really fun. We walked in the bridge made by wood. Sometimes, the bridge is kind of moving, I was scared but then I thought to my self do not look down! Finally, I finished my walk. It was cool; it was like u were flying in the middle of the rainforest.

I love FRIM! It was the best and fun trip ever!
