Brunelleschi's Dome

The one that I believe most prompted Brunelleschi to succeed in the constructions of his masterpiece is courage. I choose courage because I think that if Brunelleschi doesn’t have courage he could not finish his masterpiece. Before Brunelleschi could come to the Medici family, he had courage to present his “ridiculous” ideas in front of all the architecture. He didn’t fear that they’re going to laugh at him or kick him out of the place. They did kick him out but he had the ability that other did not have, he had courage to bring him up to be a designer. After he joins the Medici, Brunelleschi always have a great skills and interest in art. That helps him with his masterpiece by brilliant architect. But what if he doesn’t have courage? Could Brunelleschi present his idea by facing danger that the dome will fall in the middle of the construction? I think the answer is no. in 1433 when Cosimo had to be in treason and the Albizzi took Brunelleschi with them, the construction stopped for a while. Brunelleschi could think that I stuck in treason, there’s no way that I could finish the dome and may be the Medici could be kill and I will die too. But he didn’t think that and still continue with his masterpiece. Courage helped him think that!

The dome that Brunelleschi made has a big affect in the world. People came and see his masterpiece and say wow, how could he do that! Some other architect would think that they have to think about another masterpiece that people never known of. From that they started to design more and more architect and have more new, interesting ideas. Which is a point of the Renaissance, the rebirth of the world. And when they have new idea, people from other place will come and see, and they continue to start wondering and “what if” and the world will have more new ideas!

Where do new ideas come from?

I think new ideas come from different situation and imagination. Our imagination could create plenty new ideas. We could come up with new ideas depend on someone's else ideas and make it more interesting and useful. For example, Thomas Edison used the idea of the first telephone's creator from Alexandra Graham Bell. Thomas Edison improved the ideas of Bell to make the sound of the telephone clearer and the network works better! New ideas also could come from moments of experience. To write a book or novel, you could use your experience to apply to your story. The main character could be you or someone that you know or really close that had a lot interesting experience. Guessing could make you come up with new ideas. Human guessing that the world is not round but it's a square. Then Galileo guessed that it's not square and that helped him come up with news ideas to find out which shape the world has. Just by a guess, Galileo changed the world's of science and the world of discovery in human world! New ideas could come from everywhere you're standing.

Favourite Short Story From Our Unit

In this short story unit, I like all three of the short story that we have discussed. But for my favorite, I would choose "The Sniper". I love the way the author, O'Flaherty describe the theme through the end with the sniper killed his own brother. It shows how Civil War splits up family, brother against brother. Although, I do not like guns and violence but the story was really touched. The conflict between the two snipers was really tensional. Before I read the story, I had no interested in Civil War but after read "The Sniper" I got more curious. I was impressed of the sniper's plan to help him sneak out of the roof and kill the other sniper.

Frim Trip Reflection:D

My 7B class went to FRIM trip last Wednesday and Thursday. We went there because our teachers wanted us to study outside of class and not only sitting in class, take notes and doing homework. We stayed 2 days 1 night in the forest. They wanted us to live in a natural environment for a while. Also, we study how forest look like and how long it have been created in Malaysia. Our teachers taught us how to find insects, writing in the rainforest, measure heights of the tree without climb up in a tree. We just bring our class in to the nature!

On the first day in FRIM, Ms.Lemos (my math teacher) gave us a packet. In the packet, they typed all our schedule and what we are going to do in the next day and today. Mr.Walsh divided our 7B class to four group (1-4) depended on our tent mates. I was in-group 2. When each student have a group then each group will go to their teacher that teach and lead the activities we will do. My group was with Mr.Walsh first. We studied about insects and forest. We got a chance to find insects under the woods, tree and how they do, do they have any special plants. In the end of the class, our group found a giant group of ants carry food to their nest. It was really interesting, it looks like there was thousand of ants helping each other to carry food that ten times bigger than them.

The next activity that our group had done is math with Ms.Lemos. She taught us how to measure tree without need to climb up to the top of the tree and then measure them. We used a math method in 8th grade to measure it. It was fun to use the math we never use in the forest!

After, we had lunch with the 7A class- the group that go first on Tuesday and Wednesday. I ate lunch my friends and ask them how was FRIM trip, what was they doing and stuff. They gave me advice when I doing the night walk, the bathroom and stuff.

The 3rd activity that my group enjoyed was writing, humanities with Mr.Peters. We had to separate from our friends to find a space that we can be alone. When I found a space that I liked, I sat down and felt the feeling that being alone in the rainforest. I sketched the space that I chose then wrote my feeling in the paper. During, I was writing, many bugs climbed up me make me shouted a small scream (no one could hear it). Beside the hot in Kuala Lumpur, in the rainforest the weather is perfect. It was sunny sometimes, but suddenly cool winds came and erase all the heat. After, I have done my writing; I ran over to my friends and chatted with them until Mr.Peters called us out.

The last activities in the morning my group done was with Mrs.Smith (our PE teacher). We went down to the stream down the rainforest to catch insects, fish, crab, and shrimps. All of us hurry to catch fish; they were so fast that we fall down in the water so many times. My group worked together perfectly, we always scream “FISHHHH CATCH IT! HURRY!”. We all wet after all but we had so much fun and laugh during it! Also, we catch a pretty good fish. We also play a game that we have to answer the questions, which group win will have a special price. My group won and the special price was candy from California! It was my favorite game ever!

At night, we had a night walk to see the animal and insects that was hiding in the morning, I was lost for a moment but lucky me I had Ameera- my friend, teacher and the Malaysian guide. I got wet because it rain during the walk. The rainforest was really pretty covered with tiny fireflies fly around a tiny light enough makes the rainforest light a little.

The next day, we went to the Canopy walk. It was really fun. We walked in the bridge made by wood. Sometimes, the bridge is kind of moving, I was scared but then I thought to my self do not look down! Finally, I finished my walk. It was cool; it was like u were flying in the middle of the rainforest.

I love FRIM! It was the best and fun trip ever!

Girls huddle under a rice basket to escape the rain!

The picture named "Girls huddle under a rice basket to escape the rain" was taken by Steve McCurry in 1983 at Java,Indonesia. The background of the picture is quite simple. The background is almost the green color of the plants and the dark brown of the ground. The color also simple too! It just the dirty white color of the shirt of the younger girl. And the green dress of the bigger girl match the beautiful color of the plant outside. The bigger girl with the green dress (could be the sister of the white shirt girl) holding the rice basket in her head escape from the rain. The white shirt girl (could be younger sister of the green dress girl)huddle behind her sister, she put her hands together, look like she breath slowly to keep her warmer. The sister one hand hold the rice basket one hand hold her dress. Her younger sister huddle so close to her and her eyes look different directions looked innocent does not know what is going on. But her older sister looked like she just saw something shocked, she open her mouth, she could not say anything. The picture not really bright not really dark!
When I looked at the picture, I felt sad. Look at two girls trying to protect themselves from something dangerous or shocked and that they scared. Their simple clothes just simple green dress for the older sister and white dirty shirt for the younger girl. They might be poor. The older sister one hand hold the basket, one hand hold her dress. She must help her mom haverts the rice from farm. Two girls by themselves so they were brave enough to escape. But the younger sister, her face look innocent, she just know that she's cold, put two hands exhale to her hands. Her older sister look shocked she must shock from something. How could they escape or what happened? It is the great picture!
